Sharpe ratio
Excess return relative to its fluctuation. Smoother, not safer.
Walk-forward
Tune on one period, test on the next unseen one.
Overfitting
Rules that learned noise. Great backtest, weak live.
Slippage
The gap between expected and filled price. A real cost.
